Agadir ammonite – 15” (half a meter wide!)

This ammonite (Acanthoceras sp) measuring 500mm diameter x 160mm deep comes from Agadir in Morocco and is found in the Cretaceous limestone deposits. These ammonites are very popular because they can reach over half a metre in diameter! This is a VERY large and VERY heavy ammonite. You will need two people to lift. 16th century literature records detail these ammonite stones from Whitby, UK were said to be from the legend of Saint Hilda, who cleared the Saxon Abbess from snakes and threw them over the cliffs. Arnioceras semicostatum 4" ammonite, Scotland, UK

A beautiful specimen of the Jurassic ammonite, Arnioceras semicostatum' (Hettangian stage, 205 mya). It was found on the Isle of Skye, on Ardnish Point, Scotland. This superb specimen is quite rare being such a large size. It also, amazingly sits nicely in an angled upright position on display, simply by the shape of the rock its in. Making it perfect for display purposes. This one measures 100mm diameter, standing 120mm in rock, 60mm deep and 145mm wide.

Arnioceras semicostatum 4" ammonite, Scotland, UK

Brasilia bradfordensis, 5", from Skye, UK (Very Rare ammonite)

This specimen is a very rare, and highly collectable ammonite, of the Brasilia bradfordensis species. It came from Bearrerig, Skye, and is Jurassic age.
